The Stone of Help Community Development Corporation was created in 2003 out of the ministry of Ebenezer AME Church in Ft. Washington, MD. Its purpose includes acting at arms’ length as a non-profit organization to facilitate the delivery of needed programs and services to help individuals, families, and the community with healthy growth and development. Since its inception, the organization has partnered with Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water), Glassmanor Elementary School, Hands of Hope Caregivers Foundation, Inc. and others.

With the re-launch of Stone of Help in the fall of 2018, the newly established Board of Directors has updated the organization’s mission, vision, and moved forward with other elements of a strategic plan. Stone of Help continues to partner with Ebenezer AME and other area non-profits and the residential and business community to achieve the strategic goals outlined below. Toward this end, Stone of Help has identified three short term objectives and three long term objectives to begin the re-launch and help the organization and community to prosper.

Short-Term Objectives:

  • Facilitate work of the Assistance to Women & Families Program in partnership with Ebenezer’s Women’s Resource & Restoration Center.
  • Facilitate work of Go Get Our Daughters Program in partnership with Ebenezer’s Women’s Resource & Restoration Center.
  • Facilitate work of the Rights of Passage Program in partnership with Ebenezer’s Youth Ministry.

Long Term Objectives:

  • Facilitate the development of a facility to house programs (such as affordable housing, senior housing, educational facility, and/or other programs), based on community needs and feasibility.
  • Facilitate additional program development and implementation.
  • Facilitate financial literacy and entrepreneurialism in the community.

Additional objectives and action plans are being developed to actualize the organization’s strategic goals.
